Think of finance and accounting as the ultimate cheat codes for real life. Most people learn these the hard way, but mastering then now gives you an unfair advantage in building wealth.

Now you may be wondering, why would I need to know these terms? I'm literally never going to see them!

Sorry to burst your bubble...but you kind of need to. Now here is an example of why knowing these terms will be beneficial, regardless of what major you are choosing for your future.

Imagine you invest $100 today. Without understanding terms like interest, growth rate, or compounding, you might not realize that the same $100 could turn into $1,000 - or even more - over time. Knowing the right terms can help you understand the how behind daily pricings, stock market, and strategies to grow & secure your assets exponentially!

Finance

Finance isn't only about money in one place, there are several places your money can grow!

For instance, there is...

Stocks - Buying a small "piece" of a company ( you OWN the piece of the company!) which can grow in value of the company does well

Bonds - A loan you give to a company or government in exchange for interest payments overtime

Mutual Funds & ETFs - Collections of different stocks and bonds bundled together to lower risk through diversification

Now, you might be thinking

' So what? These are all the places where my money can grow, but, how do they grow? '

The answer is simple!

It is called Compounding

The secret ingredient to all of the places where you make a profit is time.

Here is a real life example that will make more sense👇

Imagine you gave a loan to the government, you will receive a bond. Now in that bond, you'd receive you principle ( the amount you paid), along with the overtime interest, you would treat the interest as a profit.

Compounding is a powerful way of maximizing your wealth as it creates a snowball effect, where your interest begins to earn interest on itself!

Accounting

Accounting is a whole different area of study compared to Finance

How are they different?

Well for starters, Finance is the study of how to grow money smartly and effectively in the future.

Accounting is the study of observing past records of a corporation.

So you can see that their goals are completely different!
